Device Grading Policy

At Techsocial, we supply professionally refurbished and pre-owned IT equipment. Our grading system is designed to provide clear, transparent information about cosmetic condition, certification status and warranty coverage.

All devices are fully tested for functionality. Cosmetic grading reflects external appearance only.

 

Grade A+ – BSI Kitemark Refurbished

Grade A+ devices are refurbished by a supplier holding a valid licence from the British Standards Institution to use the BSI Kitemark in relation to their refurbishment process.

This means the refurbishment process has been independently assessed and certified under a BSI Kitemark scheme.

Certification applies to the refurbishment process carried out by the licensed supplier. Techsocial is a reseller of these devices and does not claim to hold the BSI Kitemark licence unless expressly stated.

What to Expect:

• Refurbished under a BSI Kitemark-certified process
• 2-Year Warranty (unless otherwise stated)
• Professionally cleaned and sanitised
• Excellent cosmetic condition with minimal signs of prior use
• Fully tested and verified functional

Grade A+ devices are ideal for customers seeking refurbished devices processed under independently audited quality standards.

 

Grade A – Excellent Condition

Grade A devices are professionally refurbished but are not supplied under a BSI Kitemark-certified process unless explicitly stated on the product listing.

What to Expect:

• Light cosmetic marks (minor scratches or scuffs)
• Minor signs of use on palm rest or keyboard area
• Battery health tested and verified at a minimum of 70% capacity at time of grading (where applicable)
• Fully tested hardware functionality

 

Grade B – Very Good Condition

Grade B devices offer strong value and full functionality with more visible cosmetic wear.

What to Expect:

• Noticeable scratches, scuffs, or minor dents
• Visible signs of previous use on casing and edges
• Battery health tested and verified at a minimum of 70% capacity at time of grading (where applicable)
• Fully tested hardware functionality

 

Functional Testing Standard

All grades undergo functional testing of major hardware components, including:

• Processor
• Memory (RAM)
• Storage drive
• Display
• Keyboard and trackpad
• Ports and connectivity
• Charging functionality

Testing confirms operational performance but does not imply new or unused condition.

 

Cosmetic Condition Disclaimer

Cosmetic descriptions are intended as a general guide. As refurbished devices are previously used, minor variations may occur within each grade.

Signs of prior use consistent with the grade description do not constitute a fault.

 

Battery & Consumables

Rechargeable batteries are consumable components and naturally degrade over time.

Battery health percentages refer to performance at time of testing only. Gradual reduction in capacity through normal use is not considered a defect.

 

Screen Tolerance

Refurbished screens may contain minor pressure marks or a small number of non-impactful pixel imperfections consistent with industry refurbishment standards and the stated grade.

Such minor cosmetic imperfections do not affect functionality.

 

Certification Transparency

Only devices explicitly described as “BSI Kitemark Refurbished” are supplied via a BSI-licensed refurbishment process.

Devices graded A or B are not represented as BSI-certified unless expressly stated.
